QLD Yamaha Junior Racing Impress at 2012 MX Season Opener

The 1-2 punch of QLD YJR’s Joel Dinsdale and Wilson Todd kicked off their 2012 racing campaign in fine style and winning form as the 2012 season got underway over the weekend.
Round one of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Series rocketed to life at Kilcoy, one hour northwest of Brisbane, and it was again the YJR teamsters that led the way winning all three classes contested and won a total of seven out of the nine motos contested.
Despite coming off a shoulder injury and having a tough time finding a dry track in his home town of Mackay over a soggy summer, Dinsdale got right back into racing stride winning both the 15 years 250cc as well as the 13 to 15 years 125cc. Dinsdale took a perfect three wins from three starts on the 250, while it was a 1-1-2 score card on the 125 as fatigue set in during the final moto.
“Today was a good hit out and things went pretty well. I had to work for a few wins, the weather was hot and humid and we had six races that were nearly back to back so it was tough. I got some leg cramps during that last race, so I just played it safe and got it home. But, a good start to the year and I will have a look at my pre event preparation to warn off the cramps,” Dinsdale said thoughtfully.
Wilson Todd quietly goes about racking up superb results. He totally dominated the 12 to 15 years 85cc class winning all three motos in convincing fashion and he backed that up with an impressive third place in the 13 to 15 years 125. Todd is a model of consistency and continually puts himself in good positions on the track early in the race and has the speed and fitness to finish them off.
“I’m exhausted now. The track was really wet and heavy early in the day and it took a lot of energy to ride the bike through the mud and the ruts. It was good to get the win on the 85 and my goal this year is to step up my racing on the 125 so this was a good start,” Todd said.
Round two of the eight round Sunshine State series hits Bundaberg in three weeks time and the QLD YJR boys will be out to build on the good start to the season.
