A decade of sponsorship
2012 is shaping up to be a big race year for Brendan. Out with a broken coccyx for two years, Brendan is looking forward to competing again at the Central Highland MX Series One meet at Blackwater on 23 February 2012.
Motosport Yamaha became his sponsor back in 2002 when he was just 12 years old. We thought Brendan already showed real promise then as he had already won the NQ #1 plate for both 1995 and 1996 when he just starting out racing as a six year old.
In previous years he had other sponsors and Brendan said he really appreciated this support and belief in his racing skills from local businesses.
Brendan started out in Dirt Track races, but has moved onto outdoor Motocross. He has also raced in Stadium Motocross in Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns, but he said this type of racing isn't that common in north Queensland.
Riding in the Light Championship classification, he would like to make a career in racing and one day be sponsored to train and race full time. But until that moment, he works for his parents at Nu-Lite Aluminium, as does fellow Motosport Yamaha rider, Jake Avenell.
